Shades of Doom Download

The following link will download Shades of Doom version 1.2.08. This download includes the following changes since version 1.0:

 What's New with Monsters:

-Their voices are directional. That is, they are loudest when facing you, and quietest when facing away.

- They turn at a predetermined speed. Therefore, they can't use their weapons immediately until they are facing you.

- They can get in your way, and each other’s way, and must walk around other monsters, otherwise be blocked.

- They can accidentally shoot each other.

- Their use of weapons is more realistic.

- There are always impact sounds when you are hit.

 What's New with Weapons.

- You have two new weapons:

1. Fists. They can be used more quickly and more often than a knife, as well as having a larger field of use, but they are not as powerful.

2. Contact Bio-grenades. You press the space bar once to get ready to throw it, and the distance thrown is dependent on how long before the second press. It will kill or injure everything in a 30-foot radius.

- Most weapons have sounds when they miss or hit walls such as a ricochet for bullets.

- F5 will now give you ammo counts along with the weapon being selected.

- The pitch of the targeting sound now increases as the target solution improves.

What else is New.

- You can now select from Surround Sound, virtual 3d full, virtual 3D light, and simply stereo.

- More joysticks and game pads are supported. The buttons have been initially configured for the ten button game pad.

- Sound help is provided for all the major sounds.

- When loading or saving a game you now know whether the slot has been used and which area is saved in the slot.

- There is a slight Doppler effect from the movement of monsters and the player now. This can be heard when a player moves quickly past a monster or object, or when a monster is moving quickly near a player.

- The player now recovers health slowly over time.

- When the player performs a snap turn, the sound circles around rather than instantly changing directions.

- Cruise mode has been enhanced so that there is now three forward speeds and two backward speeds.

- Messages found are automatically recorded. They can be recalled with F8.

- With the new keystroke Shift-D, you can scan for monsters and objects directly ahead of your character.

- With the new D keystroke, you now can browse your surroundings through a menu of objects and monsters.

- You can return to old levels and find everything as it was left. Elevators work in both directions.

- Level 9 is totally new.

- The ending sequence has been improved significantly.

- In most cases, if you are in a no-win situation, the game will detect this and end the game.

- The game main menu is more flexible.

- You can now continuously move sideways. This is useful when passing in front of an open door and firing into a room.

- All keystrokes are now user-definable.

- The O keystroke now allows you to browse through nearby objects one at a time.

- You can no longer detect objects through walls, but you can now detect them up to twenty feet away.
